Elementary

Strong Skills, Strong Character

A coherent K‑5 program building strong literacy, math fluency, content knowledge, and character.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is a robust, standards-aligned framework designed to spark intellectual curiosity through a blend of direct instruction and inquiry-based learning. In Language Arts and Mathematics, we utilize evidence-based programs that build foundational skills before advancing to complex application and analysis. Science and Social Studies are taught not just as collections of facts, but as interactive explorations of the world, encouraging students to ask "why" and "how." We integrate hands-on projects and real-world problem-solving scenarios to show students the practical relevance of what they are learning.

To provide a truly well-rounded education, our academic core is enriched with a vibrant rotation of special subjects and modern skill-building:

  • 🎨 Creative Arts: Regular exposure to art and music allows for self-expression and cultural appreciation.
  • 🏃 Physical Well-being: Physical education and recess prioritize movement, health, and teamwork.
  • 💻 STEM & Tech: We emphasize digital citizenship and technology integration to prepare students for the modern world.

How We Individualize Care

Our primary academic goal is to successfully transition students from "learning to read" to "reading to learn," while simultaneously building deep mathematical fluency and critical thinking skills. By the time students complete our elementary program, they are expected to demonstrate mastery in core subject areas, including writing with clarity and purpose, solving complex multi-step math problems, and applying the scientific method. We set clear, measurable milestones for each grade level to ensure that every student is progressing effectively and is fully prepared for the rigorous academic demands of middle school.

Beyond pure academics, our milestones focus heavily on the development of the "whole child," fostering the personal skills necessary for lifelong success:

  • 🧠 Executive Function: Students learn to organize their own materials, manage their time effectively, and work independently.
  • 🗣️ Self-Advocacy: We encourage students to speak up, ask questions, and advocate for their own learning needs.
  • 🤝 Social Intelligence: We guide students toward becoming empathetic community members who can collaborate in teams and resolve conflicts constructively.

Learning Goals & Milestones

We recognize that elementary students learn at different paces and possess unique strengths, which is why we utilize a differentiated instruction model in every classroom. Rather than applying a "one-size-fits-all" approach, our teachers use ongoing assessments and observations to tailor lessons to the individual. This includes small-group rotations for reading and math, where students receive targeted support or advanced enrichment based on their current needs. Whether a child needs extra time to grasp a concept or is ready to tackle above-grade-level material, our flexible grouping ensures they remain engaged and challenged.

Individualized care also extends deeply into the social and emotional well-being of the child, ensuring they feel supported inside and outside the classroom:

  • ❤️ Emotional Safety: Educators prioritize building strong, trusting relationships so every child feels seen, valued, and safe to take risks.
  • 🏠 Home-School Partnership: We maintain open lines of communication with families to align our strategies at school with support systems at home.
  • 🌟 Personalized Motivation: By understanding a child’s specific interests and anxieties, we adapt our management style to nurture their confidence and love for learning.
