Empowering Independent Thinkers
Our Middle School program navigates the critical bridge between childhood and young adulthood, balancing increased academic rigor with the mentorship and social-emotional support students need to develop into independent, confident high schoolers.

Curriculum
Our curriculum is departmentalized and specialized, mirroring a high school structure to acclimate students to changing classes and managing multiple teacher expectations. In the Humanities, we dive deep into global history and classic literature, fostering cultural literacy, empathy, and persuasive writing skills. In STEM, our focus shifts toward inquiry-based discovery and environmental consciousness, where students use mathematics and science to solve real-world problems and understand the natural world.
To help students find their specific passions before high school, we offer a robust selection of electives and "exploratory" wheels:
- š World Languages & Culture: Introductory courses in foreign languages designed to build a foundation for fluency and a global perspective.
- šØ Visual & Performing Arts: Specialized tracks for band, choir, drama, and digital art design, allowing students to master their creative medium.
- š Logic & Media Literacy: Courses focused on debate, critical thinking, and navigating modern information landscapes.
- šæ Life Sciences & Ecology: Hands-on environmental field research and lab-based studies focused on sustainability and the biological sciences.

How We Individualize Care
Middle school is a period of rapid change, and we recognize that students mature at vastly different rates physically, emotionally, and intellectually. We utilize an "Advisory System" where every student is paired with a faculty mentor who checks in with them daily, not just about grades, but about their social well-being and mental health. Academically, we differentiate through tiered assignments; a student might be doing high-school level Algebra while receiving extra support in Language Arts, ensuring they are challenged where they excel and supported where they struggle.
We also prioritize creating a safe emotional harbor during the often-turbulent adolescent years:
- š”ļø Bullying Prevention: We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and actively teach conflict resolution and digital etiquette (cyber-safety).
- š¤ Open-Door Mentorship: Teachers position themselves as coaches rather than just lecturers, making themselves available for one-on-one guidance.
- š Growth Mindset: We normalize "failure" as a part of the learning process, encouraging students to view setbacks as data points for improvement rather than character flaws.

Learning Goals & Milestones
Our primary academic objective is to transition students from concrete operational thinking to abstract critical analysis. By the time students complete 8th grade, they are expected to move beyond simple recall of facts to evaluating sources, constructing complex arguments, and applying mathematical concepts to real-world engineering problems. We set aggressive milestones for high school readiness, ensuring students are proficient in research methodologies, essay composition, and the scientific method, often positioning them to take advanced or honors placement courses immediately upon entering 9th grade.
Beyond the grade book, our milestones focus heavily on Executive Functioningāthe ability to plan, organize, and self-regulate. We recognize that intelligence means little without the discipline to apply it:
- š Time Management: Students master the use of planners and digital tools to balance long-term projects with daily homework and extracurriculars.
- š£ļø Rhetoric & Debate: We cultivate the ability to speak publicly, defend a viewpoint respectfully, and listen to opposing perspectives.
- š§ Self-Identity: We guide students through the complex process of identity formation, helping them discover their personal values and leadership style.
